Now more than ever, students need to have a solid understanding of the global nature of today’s world. Traveling and learning in another country is a wonderful way to accomplish this. In 2006, ASU offered a semester-long study of comparative educational systems of higher education in the U.S. and U.K. This course culminated in a 13 day visit to the United Kingdom with stops in London, York, Cambridge, Sheffield, and Sunderland. Participants learned about the history and current programs of campuses in each of these cities while taking time to participate in local culture and attractions. Participants tested previous assumptions about practice against historical and emerging models in the UK.

This course will be offered again in the spring of 2007. The University of Edinburgh in Scotland will be added to provide more opportunities for comparisons and contrast.
