Reaching the world through education

The CSP program incorporates an integrated curriculum

Miami University

College Student Personnel Program

The CSP program incorporates an integrated curriculum, a purposeful learning community, and practical experiences to prepare students for the Student Personnel profession.  The program exposes students to relevant literature and practice, encourages critical analysis, and promotes the development of a professional philosophy to guide students' actions in the student affairs field.  As a community, core values are negotiated to encourage a productive learning community, to help students learn to work and benefit from diverse learning styles, and to discuss issues that inhibit and enhance learning.  A guiding value of the academic program is that learning is a communal act. Students, faculty, and student affairs professionals collaborate to create, understand, and apply knowledge to help students develop a professional identity.

Recognizing the need to employ a global perspective in our work with students, the Miami University CSP Program is pleased to offer Student Affairs Practice in Europe, an international study tour that provides professionals, faculty, and graduate students the opportunity to experience higher education and student affairs practice in Europe through readings, discussions, and site visits. This study tour is open to any university faculty, staff, or graduate student with an interest in internationalizing their perspective of student affairs. Over a two-week period (May 17 - 30, 2008), participants will travel to France, Germany, and Luxembourg visiting universities, meeting with and learning from administrators, faculty, and students. Additionally, participants will have the opportunity for sightseeing and visits to cultural sites.
