Postsecondary Educational Leadership with a Specialization in Student Affairs

One of our main goals is to ensure that our graduates are globally competent when entering the student affairs/services profession.  This competency is reached through accomplishing the following student learning outcomes:

  1. Articulate the theoretical foundation of the student affairs/services profession and its research.
  2. Identify integration of student developmental epistemologies with student learning epistemologies and opportunities to apply them.
  3. Identify opportunities for and apply basic concepts of fund-raising via external grants and contracts and/or donor relations.
  4. Evaluate student inputs and propose strategies for engagement and retention.
  5. Identify opportunities for and apply basic concepts of integrative learning and engagement.
  6. Identify and strategically work with varying leadership styles of administrators and faculty.
  7. Articulate a personal leadership tendency and identify means in which to enhance personal strengths in varying situations.
  8. Identify ethical dilemmas in postsecondary leadership and propose multiple solutions.
  9. Identify and plan for purposeful end results and evaluate the effectiveness of programs and projects for which you are responsible.
  10. Engage in meaningful outcomes-based assessment of integrated student learning and development.
  11. Articulate agency and opportunities to express social justice and universal design in their environment.
  12. Apply research to practice, particularly in their area of specialization and focus.
  13. Reflect on their day-to-day learning and apply lessons learned in order to enhance their programs and promote social justice and civic responsibility
  14. Articulate international postsecondary issues and identify means in which to engage the international community in their own institution.
  15. Communicate ideas and concepts effectively in writing.
  16. Communicate ideas effectively in the spoken word or equivalent.
