Graduating on Time

This checklist will help you do everything necessary to graduate on time.

Semester Before Your Final Semester

  • Confirm with your advisor that you have taken or scheduled all courses required for graduation.
  • Check the Employment Opportunities in Visual Impairment book in Room 635. Consider signing up to receive Job Exchange through the Association for Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired (AER). Visit AER's web site for more information and a membership application.
  • TVI Students: Get fingerprinted and register to take the Arizona Educator Proficiency Assessments. Go to the Office of Student and Career Services, College of Education, Room 247 for information.
The Semester in which You Graduate
  • During the first two weeks of the semester, schedule your comprehensive exam.
  • Verify with Departmental Graduate Coordinator, Cecilia Carlon, that your Master's Plan of Study is on file and that you have completed all requirements for graduation.
  • If you are a TVI student, take the Arizona Educator Proficiency Assessments (AEPA) as scheduled.
  • Continue checking the Employment Opportunities in Visual Impairment book in Room 635. Consider signing up to receive Job Exchange through the Association for Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired (AER).
Following Graduation
  • TVI Students: Contact Letty Gutierrez, Room 247, Education Building, to verify that your file has been recommended for certification by the Arizona Department of Education. Ms. Gutierrez can be reached at 520-621-7865 or via e-mail at olgutier@email.arizona.edu.
  • O&M Students: Apply to Academy for Certification of Vision Rehabilitation and Education Professionals (ACVREP) for national certification.
  • Verify that your degree has been posted by obtaining a copy of your transcript through the Office of Curriculum and Registration or online through Student Link.
  • When you move, update your address with us online, by notifying the Specialization in Visual Impairment Administrative Coordinator via e-mail, or by calling (520) 626-3580. We'd like to stay in touch with you!
