The office provides support in
Standards-Based Teacher Education and Professional Development
to countywide public schools, including large and urban
districts, small and rural districts, and all public charter
school organizations.

COMPREHENSIVE
CENTERS |

Comprehensive technical assistance centers
help low-performing schools and districts close achievement gaps and
meet the goals of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001.
Section 203 of Title II
of the Educational Technical Assistance Act of 2002 (TA Act)
authorizes the Department to establish not fewer than 20
comprehensive technical assistance centers to provide technical
assistance to States to benefit school districts and schools,
especially those in need of improvement.
The Secretary has
awarded a total of 20 comprehensive centers in two specific
categories:

Fifteen (15) Regional
Centers to provide technical assistance to States
within defined geographic boundaries.
-
Five (5) content
focused centers to provide expert assistance to benefit States
and districts nationwide on key issues related to the goals of
NCLB.
-
One additional award
for the Great Lakes West Region Center was scheduled for December
2005.
